We have an old house with a roof that has undergone a couple of repairs with Mark and team,the first being to take down and rebuild a chimney. We have a large flat roof that was felted and leaked in a couple of places especially in heavy rain. We had already decided to replace the roof before calling Mark. He gave a lot of advice and was very re-assuring so we were happy for him to proceed after he quoted us. The original plan was to rip up the old roof but it became apparent that it may cause internal damage due to the structure of the existing roof and roof joists. So Mark built a structure on top with insulation before boarding and finishing with rubberised membrane. We have had torrential rain since and so far so good. His workmen were great guys – they were here for a week and were very friendly, tidy and respectful. In addition they also made good on some leadwork, re-configured the top of a soil stack and re-laid some coping stones and painted them (photo taken before painting). So we are very pleased and are more than happy to recommend Mark and his team.

We’ve recently had some work done on our house by M. Pickett Roofing and his team. Firstly they replaced most of the windows because the glass had become fogged up and the wooden frames leaked draughts. This entailed his team working inside and outside the house over several days: they were quick, hard working and left everything neat and tidy and clean. Well done. While he was here I asked Mark to have a look into re-pointing the roof gable ends as I could see from ground level that a lot on cement had fallen out, he reported that not only did the roof need re-pointing but that the felt lining had become brittle and broken under the tiles and that it should all be replaced. The house was built in the mid 1960s so this was not too much of a surprise. This work was completed in another 5 days, again to the same high standard. So, in brief, we have no qualms in recommending M. Pickett Roofing to all and sundry.

This was a big job – complete roof replacement. Although it is a three-bedroom house, due to the way extensions have been built on there is a lot of roof for the size of the house, and a lot of “funny angles” (I’ve been told!) Also, some of work carried out in the past has not been as good as one would wish. The guys who did the work were great. They were very polite and friendly. If I asked them something or pointed something out they sorted it out straight away. Each night they cleared up behind themselves. When the work was complete, they were extremely thorough in clearing up – I’ve never had work done that was so meticulously cleared away. Then, when the scaffolding was taken down they returned to do a final check. The organisation of the delivery of skips and materials was impressive. Everything arrived on time but there weren’t materials sitting on the drive unnecessarily. I would strongly recommend this company.

This is the second time I have had work done by Mark and his team. Last year they sealed the whole felt / concrete roof and replaced some of the fascias and guttering. This time they had to get scaffolding put up to finish the rest of the guttering and add an extra downpipe. All the work was done exactly as I asked and with an eye for care and detail. The wild bees nesting in my wall were left safe and well and work arranged around them! Everything was cleaned up really well afterwards. Mark was very prompt in coming round to give what was a very good value quote for gutter repairs to my daughter’s and her neighbour’s house. He explained the problems he could see with the gutter and brackets and how he would do the repair. Within a few days Mark and his team were able to undertake the repairs, and on site Mark and his team were friendly, helpful, undertook the repairs very promptly and effectively, and cleaned up afterwards. They even carried out a further minor repair for no extra charge and Mark gave me information and advice for the future about the current guttering, fascias and soffit. The roof has been made water tight, all the bird nests removed and broken facias and tiles replaced. We contacted M Pickett Roofing for general repairs to our roof identified in the house builders survey. He visited and gave as a good overview of the services they provide. Mark the owner was very friendly, clearly very knowledgeable and not at all pushy and provided us with an excellent quote with no hidden costs that also included the scaffolding. We opted to go for a general ‘roof service’ to sort out the ridge and hip tiles, replace broken tiles, sort out the guttering and also treat the abundance of moss and to also re-render and paint the chimney stacks and we also had the old aerials removed. Whilst working on the job Mark and his team also addressed an issue with a pipe from the bathroom (we hadn’t noticed half of it was missing…) and they also repaired a brick that was crumbling at no extra cost. We were really really impressed with Mark and his team and we would definitely use him again for any further roofing work, as well as recommending him in future to friends.

I had 2 estimates prior to the one from M. Pickett. The prices were all very similar but Mark said immediately that his price included scaffolding, the others were planning to work off ladders!!! As a retired engineer I was impressed with the technical explanation that Mark gave me of the work required. All work was carried out in a professional manner with the working area kept clean. M Pickett Roofing has done two separate jobs for us so far, replaced/repaired guttering and soffits/fascias in December, and repaired a roof leak in February after one of the bad storms. Both jobs have been done to a high standard and we’ve been very happy with the work. Marc and his team seem to me honest and trustworthy and dependable, which is hard to find! I will definitely use them again for further work and would recommend him. Only ‘downside’ is you have to wait a week or two for them because they’re so busy! But they are well worth the wait! And Marc keeps in touch about the schedule, so you don’t feel left in the lurch.
